I am a graduate of Michigan State University where I received my B.A. in Criminal Justice. I played horn in various groups, including the Spartan Marching Band while at MSU. While in college I taught myself how to play the fife and helped a friend start a fife and drum corps. I played several years with the Midnight Riders Fife and Drum Corps, and during that time I also became a fife instructor for the Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps out of Plymouth, Michigan.
The Plymouth FDC is made up of kids 11-18 yrs old and perform concerts and parades throughout the year in Michigan and Ohio. Every year they travel to the east coast of the United States and tour historical locations giving concerts. 2011 marks my 19th year as a fife instructor.
My interest in 18th century music led me to also get involved with living history and being a Revolutionary War reenactor with the 10th Virginia Regiment.
In my spare time I have a career as a Ferndale police officer where I have worked for 14 years. I am a crime scene/evidence technician and member of the departments honor guard.
2011 also makes my return to horn playing after an 18 year hiatus.
